The route
The route leaves Caracas for Boca de Uracoa and continues by river to the Orinoco Delta Lodge, where you begin exploring the surroundings.
The following days are about the river and meeting the Warao people: the Morichal River and its flora and fauna, a Warao community, sunset on the Caño Mánamo and a visit to a Warao home to see their weaving and their indigenous gardens, with the chance to see dolphins.
The last day begins at dawn in a canoe before the return to Caracas, via Maturín.
Day-by-day itinerary
- Day 1
Departure from Caracas. Arrival at Boca de Uracoa, river transfer to the lodge and a walk around the Orinoco Delta Lodge.
- Day 2
Trip along the Morichal River watching wild flora and fauna, a visit to a Warao community and sunset on the Caño Mánamo.
- Day 3
Visit to a Warao home to see their weaving and indigenous gardens. Possible encounter with dolphins.
- Day 4
Sunrise in a canoe. River transfer to Boca de Uracoa, flight from Maturín and transfer to Caracas.
